On September 10th, Trump announced via. Twitter that National Security Advisor John Bolton’s services were no longer needed at the White House. “I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House. I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions, as did others in the Administration, and therefore...I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning.”

With this tweet, came some controversial comments from Bolton. Bolton told ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl that Trump, “never asked for me to resign directly or indirectly.” He also added that he “slept on it and resigned this [Tuesday] morning."

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham told reporters that she was unaware of Trump and Bolton talking Tuesday morning and that the president and Bolton had a number of disagreements with the border policy.

Until a replacement is found, a man who served as deputy national security under Bolton, Charlie Kupperman, will take his place.
